Starting a Tractor in Cold Weather
Too many times have you climbed in to the seat of your tractor in the middle of the winter and struggled and fought to get the thing to turn over. It can be a real frustrating morning when your tractor won't start so we're going to let you in on a little secret. We're going to give you the steps to start a tractor in cold weather. And Guess what? It's easy.
- 1. Climb into the tractor seat.
- 2. Push down on the clutch pedal, then put the tractor in neutral with the gear lever.
- 3. Place right foot on the brake pedals and hold.
- 4. Push hand throttle (fuel) ¾ forward.
- 5. Turn ignition key clockwise until the amp gauge shows a large discharge and hold the ignition key in that position for 35 seconds.
- 6. After 35 seconds, continue to rotate key clockwise to engage the starter.
- 7. After tractor starts, pull back on the hand throttle (fuel) to reach engine idle RPM.
- 8. If tractor does not start, repeat steps 2 through 7.
